IAESTE Canada finds well-qualified international students to work for Canadian employers and facilitates the work permit process.

IAESTE Canada is a Recognized Organization of the IEC program of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. When hiring students through IAESTE you do not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

What does it cost?
Requirements for an IAESTE internship
IAESTE Student Qualifications
  • Full-time students who are studying science, engineering, computer science, business, marketing, applied arts, architecture, agriculture, or other professional programs at reputable educational institutions around the world

  • Available year-round, though many placements take place in summer

  • Have unique insight, language, and cultural skills

What is the process?
  • Register as an employer on the IAESTE Exchange Platform entering Canada as the IAESTE Committee. Please refer to the Employer Guide

  • Create a new offer on the Exchange Platform or contact us and we will fill in the offer form for you from a job description you provide us

  • IAESTE, based on your requirement, will publish the offer to countries of your choosing

  • IAESTE will receive nominations from qualified students and share them with you

  • You may interview and select a student that meets your requirements

  • IAESTE will provide guidance and support while you register the offer on the IRCC Employer Portal

  • The student will arrive at your place of work on the first day of work

How long does it take?
  • Gathering student nominations takes a minimum of 4 weeks and completion of the work permit process takes at least 8 weeks (total minimum time of 12 weeks)

  • The time required can vary depending on the time of year

Reserved Offers
Already found a foreign student and need help to obtain a work permit?

IAESTE Canada has a limited number of work permits that may be used for Reserved Offers.  The positions must meet the same requirements as all IAESTE positions.

  • Register at iaeste.net as an employer and wait for us to activate your account

  • Create a new offer and fill in the details of the position

  • Pay the Employer Reserved Offer fee ($1,500 for corporate entities hiring students, $3,500 for corporate entities hiring non-students (Note that this fee increased as of July 1, 2024), $450 for universities/professors) via Interac e-Transfer to nationalsecretary@iaestecanada.org. Contact us if you want to make payment by cheque or bank transfer.

  • We will contact you and the IAESTE committee in the foreign country and provide you with what you need to facilitate the work permit for the foreign student

 

Note that students must be citizens of IAESTE countries or be citizens of countries having Youth Mobility Arrangements with Canada.
